Subscription cost calculator
Add up every streaming service, app and membership, and see what they cost you in a year.
Short answer: to find your total subscription cost, convert each subscription to a monthly price (yearly price ÷ 12, weekly price × 52 ÷ 12) and add them up. Multiply the monthly total by 12 for the yearly cost. Small charges add up because they repeat without you deciding again.
Where subscriptions hide
- Streaming and music: video, music, audiobooks, sports passes.
- Phone and apps: cloud storage, app subscriptions in Google Play or the App Store, games.
- Home: meal kits, delivery memberships, software, news.
- Health: gym, fitness apps, classes.
- Free trials that started charging when nobody was looking.
Keep, cancel or swap
- Sort by yearly cost. The table above does it. Start at the top.
- Ask when you last used it. Not in the last month? Cancel and come back later if you miss it.
- Rotate instead of stacking. Keep one streaming service at a time and switch when you have watched what you wanted.
- Check the price per use. The cost per use calculator shows whether a gym or app is worth what you pay.
Frequently asked questions
How do I find all my subscriptions?
Look through two months of bank and card statements for repeating charges, then check the subscriptions list in Google Play or the App Store and in your PayPal account. Free trials that turned into paid plans are the ones people miss most.
How do I compare weekly, monthly and yearly plans?
Convert them all to one period. A weekly charge times 52, divided by 12, gives the monthly cost; a yearly price divided by 12 gives the monthly cost. This calculator does that for you.
Should I cancel or pause a subscription?
If you have not used it in the last month, cancel it. You can almost always subscribe again later, often with a returning-customer offer.
Is a yearly plan cheaper than paying monthly?
Usually, but only if you would keep it for the whole year. Compare the yearly price with twelve monthly payments, and be honest about whether you will still use it in month nine.
