Salary to hourly calculator
Convert a salary to an hourly wage, hourly pay to a salary, or anything in between, with your real hours.
Short answer: hourly wage = yearly salary ÷ (hours per week × weeks paid per year). For a standard full-time job of 40 hours a week for 52 weeks, that is the salary divided by 2,080 hours. To go the other way, multiply the hourly rate by the same number of hours.
Common conversions
| From | To | Formula |
|---|---|---|
| Yearly salary | Hourly | salary ÷ (hours per week × weeks per year) |
| Hourly | Yearly | rate × hours per week × weeks per year |
| Yearly | Monthly | salary ÷ 12 |
| Monthly | Weekly | monthly × 12 ÷ 52 |
| Weekly | Daily | weekly ÷ days per week |
Use your hourly rate to decide
Knowing what an hour of your work is worth turns prices into time. A purchase that costs three hours of work feels different from one that costs "only" a number. It also helps compare a job offer with longer hours, or decide whether a paid shortcut is worth it.

Frequently asked questions
How do I convert a yearly salary to an hourly wage?
Divide the yearly salary by the number of hours you work in a year: hours per week × weeks paid per year. A full-time year is often counted as 40 hours × 52 weeks.
How do I convert hourly pay to a yearly salary?
Multiply the hourly rate by your hours per week, then by the weeks you are paid per year. If you take unpaid weeks off, use fewer weeks.
How many working days are in a year?
With a five-day week, 52 weeks gives 260 working days before public holidays and leave. The calculator uses your own days per week.
Is this before or after tax?
Before tax. The conversion works for any amount, so you can enter take-home pay instead to see your take-home hourly rate.
Why does monthly pay not equal four weeks of pay?
A month is about 4.33 weeks on average (52 weeks ÷ 12 months), so monthly pay is a little more than four weekly payments.
